About

  • Hi! I’m Caitlyn, the face behind Caitlyn Andresen Photo. I primarily specialize in equine portraiture, but also do family, seniors, canine, landscape, and more!

I own a 13-year-old grey Hanoverian named Parker, a seasoned three-ring horse and truly my once-in-a-lifetime horse, worth his weight in gold. He’s taught me so much and inspires so much of my work behind the camera. I understand the early mornings, the long days, and how much goes into it all because I live it too.

I’ve recently made the switch from western to English riding and am currently beginning a partnership with a reining horse. I’m grateful to have had perspective into all sorts of disciplines, from hunters, jumpers, and equitation to dressage and eventing, all the way to barrels and reining. Whether you’re in the show ring or at the barn, my goal is to capture images that feel authentic and true to you and your horse.

Outside of photography, I love being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, bass fishing, and spending as much time around horses as possible. I’m 18, a senior in high school, and committed to Appalachian State University, where I plan to pursue a path toward becoming a clinical neuropsychologist.

I am so grateful for all the opportunities that I’ve been given through this career and am looking forward to potentially working with you!

  • I started photography in 2021 when I was about 13, not really knowing where it would take me.

In June of 2022, everything changed. I got extremely sick with an inflammatory brain disease along with sudden, intense stomach pain. For months, there were no real answers. I had to leave in-person school and go online, and for a long time it was so bad I couldn’t even ride in the car or leave the house. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t function normally, and most days were just about pushing through and getting through the day while in excruciating pain. My body was failing me, and doctors didn’t know why or have answers.

Over the next two and a half years, things slowly started to make sense. Healing didn’t happen fast, but luckily with help from doctors across the country, little improvements added up over time. Today, I’m fully healed, and my life looks completely different because of that season. While id never choose to live it again, it has altered my life and given me perspective I could not be more grateful to have.

While I was sick, I decided to put everything I had into my photography business. It was one of the only things I could do, especially while being out of the saddle for almost a year. Without this business, I wouldn’t have been able to afford making my dreams happen. I worked for everything I have, and I spent that time building something from the ground up. That work is the entire reason I was able to get my horse, Parker.

With the support of my clients and a lot of hard work, I went from lessoning twice a week to owning my own horse and competing on the A circuit. Every dream I had, and even ones I never thought possible, came true through that hardship. None of this would have happened without it.

That experience is what led me to now working towards a future in clinical neuropsychology, where I hope to help kids facing the same under-researched and under-recognized conditions that I once did. Photography will always a reminder of how much can come from pushing through, even when it seems like there is no end in sight, and I am so blessed to have that.

Thank you to everyone who has made it possible for the last 5 years :)
